I'm a housewife and I wear that title proudly. It has negative connotations today, deemed to be a put-down of a woman--if she's ONLY a housewife. But we deny these terms at our peril. Indeed, history tells us that woman is lesser than man. Woman is other. What do the words and descriptions of women from our past tell us about gender in today's world?
